Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island called West Island. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't known about it may confuse it with an island that is west-facing. It is often cited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. At the beginning of her life she hoped to become professional performer, however an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. After I surpassed my male counterparts, that's when I gave up. Bruce was among the former dancers that turned to acting. Her teacher from high school encouraged her in the right direction. She was encouraged to try out for roles in her school's production. She auditioned and ended up playing the leading role for the role in Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows on both small and large screens drawing the most interest when she was offered the character of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 which was viewed only at times.
